Behold Him by YYADS
An encouragement from Chapter 6 of Awe of God by John Bevere:
“Worship the LORD in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him."
Psalm 96:9
This verse encourages us to ponder on these questions: What would happen if I took ten-minute segments three times a day, shut out all outside influences, and pondered the greatness of God? Is it worth investing the time? Could I be more effective in daily life by increasing my holy fear, which ultimately will make me wiser?
Our own world can get very busy. Especially with social media and the news showing us something new every minute! In this chapter John Bevere uses the words 'behold Him' quite often. To behold means to give full attention, gaze upon, observe in awe and wonder, to admire. In a busy world, beholding God and spending a moment in awe of Him can be tricky. But John challenges us, as believers, to look at how we spend our time, and assess how much of that is spent beholding our Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18 promises us, that as we behold Him we are to be made "more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image". Our holy fear grows proportionally to our comprehension of God's greatness. So let us be still in the Lord's presence regularly, beholding Him and in awe, taking the time to behold what really matters :)
Blessings,
