An encouragement from chapter 5 of Awe of God by John Bevere:

“I was with you… in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:3-5 NKJV)

These verses encourage us to ponder on these questions: Have i expected and believed for God’s presence and power to manifest? How will my prayer life change by approaching Him with holy awe? How can I make this shift?

This makes me think of the importance of coming into the presence of God with holy awe and reverence. A lot of times you’ll pray without taking a moment to truly sit and be in His presence.

In this chapter, John Bevere shares stories that prove how important coming into the presence of God with reverence is. Where he says “where the Lord is reverenced, His presence manifests.” John also uses scripture to confirm the importance of this.

I’d like to encourage you to reflect on these questions and before you pray, take a moment to think about how amazing and holy our God is. Its so important to not just pray but actually enter God’s presence with holy awe. This chapter truly shows the impact God had on people where His presence manifests.
