Reflecting on Easter

An encouragement from Chapter 8 of John Bevere's Awe of God:

"They cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God. Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can ever pay enough to live forever."

Psalm 49:7-9

I think this passage ties in so well as we've come into the Easter season and so this verse encourages us to ponder on these questions:

Considering the great value Jesus has placed on my life, how do I now view myself? How does this affect how I view and treat those I encounter daily?

Bevere pointed out a scripture from John 17 and it says "I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (NIV)

God places such a high value on us, it's incomprehensible. So much that God brought us with a high price, offering his only Son to die on the cross. God paid that ransom to provide us with a way to eternity with Him. That is what we remember and give thanks for when we gather on Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. It is by grace, and undeserving love, that we have been saved. What a God!
