God has a plan and purpose for all of us

Revelation is conditional upon obedience.  Fasting, however this may look for you as an individual, is a symbol of obedience and humbling yourself before God.  It takes the focus off ourselves and our wants, and directs our focus to God.  We set our will to seek His face - it is a choice.

One of the greatest examples of fasting is when Jesus, after being baptised immediately engaged in a 40 day period of fasting. It is no coincidence that this was done prior to the beginning of His earthly ministry.  The devil will try and hinder our understanding of the Spiritual Power that comes with the discipline of prayer and fasting. We can stand firm knowing that prayer and fasting is from the Living Word of God.

Matt 4:1-11 says that Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him…

2 Cor 10:4-5 reminds us that the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ

And 2 Chr 7:14 promises that if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Rom 12:1-2 encourages and urges us as…to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Eph 6:18 says to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

And Eph 5:15-20 speaks of being very careful, then, how you live…Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit…

I encourage us all to soak in the Word of God.  Search scripture around fasting and prayer, for God has a plan and purpose for all of us.
