12 Mar 2026 - Guest Ministry Pr Shane Willard - Pentecost

Paul speaks about love in 1 Corinthians 13 - a passage used so often in weddings, emphasising that even with intrinsic good, without love, it is not good.

I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Guest ministry Pr Shane Willard visiting Stirling Family Church brought a message on Pentecost, and its demonstration of God’s desire for relationship with His people. The importance of a love and marriage relationship. The importance of desire for relationship such that God orchestrated in Exodus.

Pentecost power is something that often Pentecostal’s enjoy and seek - but if we focus on power, miracles, gifts AND forget love, and relationship, how does Pentecost make sense? Shane opens up the old testament, and encourages us that Pentecost is about relationship, marriage and the love of God He has for His people bought with a price.
